President of the Chinese Culture Club

Co-President (Senior). Head of Outreach (Junior). Being a member of the Chinese honors and culture club enhanced my Chinese conversational and writing skills as well as gave me a better understanding of Chinese culture. This also allowed me to participate in a number of competitions related to my Chinese study. As Head of Outreach, my responsibility was to organize outreach events to educate students and parents about Chinese culture and language. Some events included fundraising which was essential to securing funding for the club, allowing us to organize social events, charity fundraisers, and collaborate with schools in China and Taiwan.

1st Place - Florida Statewide Chinese Competition

Organized by the Florida Chinese Teachers Association, the Florida Statewide Chinese Competition is a state-level competition with thousands of students competing. I was selected all 3 years to compete in FSCC. Placed 1st Junior year Chosen as a part of a select, limited number of students from Saint Andrews Chinese honors classes, Chinese clubs, and international residents. Pre-Covid, we traveled to Orlando where I competed in several competitions, including language tests, live language performances, and culture-based tests. I met many people from across the state of Florida who also study Chinese and was able to learn a lot from them. Not only in terms of the Chinese language, its dialects and intricacies, but also through broadening my horizons with their experiences studying Chinese. Sophomore and Junior year, sadly there was no in-person event due to Covid, however I continued to compete for Saint Andrews by performing live, testing, and making Chinese videos online.
